“There are more ways to the wood than one.”

Figures:

In the Middle Ages, sacral figures such as crucifixes, figures of saints and crib figurines formed an important part of public and private Christian religious life.

Today, sacral figures still adorn modern and traditional churches, but the custom is perpetuated in other forms as well: titular saints make a thoughtful gift on someone’s name day, and patron saints of professions can mark the beginning or ending of a professional calling.

Wood carving also has a rich tradition of depicting more worldly human figures, such as nudes and portraits, as well as animals.

Sculptures:

Abstract work which is created to stand alone is often called sculpture. Free work and the development of the carver’s own style are central to this discipline.

My work is characterised by simplicity, suspense and symbolic expressiveness.
